Caminau

Geologically, the Caminau deposit in the district of Bautzen in Saxony was formed from Lusatian granodiorite. A deposit was formed through kaolinite weathering, on account of the damp climate of the Tertiary period, that has been mined since 1904. The kaolin products from Caminau are highly suitable for the paper, crayon and cosmetics industries.

The Caminau biotope group formed during the recultivation is a popular destination for school and other recreational outings.
