Muraewnja

The Muraewnja plant is located in the central region of Russia, about 260 km from Moscow. The presence of silica sand deposits was known of in the village of Muraewnja long before their industrial use and the inhabitants of the surrounding villages have always mined the sand and used it to meet their own needs. The actual volume and quality of the sands was not discovered until the 1980s. The mined and refined silica sands are used for the production of sheet glass, container glass, glass fibres, electronics, food canning, porcelain and ceramics.
