Nowogrodziec
The Surmin-Kaolin S.A. Plant in the Polish town of Nowogrodziec is located approximately 50 kilometres from Görlitz. This site has belonged to the Quarzwerke Group since 1998 and contains significant kaolin deposits with reserves of more than 80 million tonnes. The product range comprises kaolins for various areas of application, including white cauterizing raw clay material, silica sands and aleurites. Feldspar and other highly refined special mineral products are also produced here. The kaolin of this site is required in particular in the Polish ceramic, paper and glass fibre industries and as a filler for the rubber and paint industries.
