Caminau plant

In geological terms, the Caminau deposit was formed from granodiorite from the Lausitz region, as a result of kaolinitic erosion due to the wet climate of the Tertiary period. Extraction has been taking place since 1904. The mining operation is located to the southwest of the primary Inner Lausitz fault. Kaolin products from Caminau are particularly suitable for the paper and cosmetics industries as well as for the production of colored pencils.
The Caminau mining plant, located in the heart of the Lausitz, with its lakes and moors, has cooperated closely with the organization for the promotion of agricultural and forestry in Saxony (Förderwerk Land- und Forstwirtschaft Sachsen e.V.) since 1999. The best known result of this collaboration is the Caminau  Habitat Association.
